Our story

DSTV Pro Installers opened its doors in 2018 in a garage in Edenvale. We were two technicians with ladders, a second-hand bakkie, and the belief that most of the frustration around DSTV installs in Gauteng came from the same three things — rushed jobs, untrained sub-contractors, and installers who disappeared the moment a cable started to drop signal. We decided to be the opposite of that.

Eight years later we're a team of twelve accredited technicians running four vehicles across Johannesburg, the East Rand, Centurion, and Pretoria East. We've done close to ten thousand installations — everything from a single Explora swap in a Parkhurst cottage to a five-room Extra View setup in a Silver Lakes double-storey with cabling chased cleanly behind face-brick. We still answer our own phones, and Craig (our founder) still climbs ladders when a tricky alignment calls for it. That hasn't changed and it won't.

The reason we exist as a brand, honestly, is that Gauteng deserves a DSTV team that shows up when it says it will and leaves the place tidier than it found it. Most of our new work comes from word of mouth — a neighbour on the Sandton WhatsApp group, a mate at the braai, an estate manager in Centurion who's tired of cowboys. We keep doing what we do because that pipeline only stays full if we keep earning it.

What makes us different

Three things, mostly. First, every single person who steps onto your property wears a MultiChoice-accredited badge. We do not sub-contract to unvetted third parties to cover demand — if we're busy, we'll tell you honestly and book you for the next open slot. Second, we work in two-hour arrival windows rather than "some time between 8 and 5", and we WhatsApp you 30 minutes before the technician arrives. That one change alone has made the biggest difference to our reviews. Third, our workmanship warranty runs for a full twelve months. If a dish drifts out of alignment in a Highveld thunderstorm, we come back and fix it at no charge.

On the practical side, every vehicle carries a card machine, a stock of Explora decoders, LNBs, brackets, and enough cable to re-run a full four-room Extra View setup without a second trip. We'd rather over-stock and finish on the day than book you in twice.

Our coverage

We run out of two depots — one in Edenvale for our Johannesburg and East Rand routes, one in Centurion for Pretoria and the Centurion corridor. Those two depots let us keep our arrival windows tight across 28 Gauteng suburbs:

Our certifications

Every technician on our team carries a current MultiChoice accreditation, which means they've passed the official installer training and are on MultiChoice's register. On the electrical side, our senior technicians hold SAQCC (South African Qualification and Certification Committee) gas-and- electrical installation cards for the low-voltage work that sometimes comes with a full home-theatre install. We carry public liability insurance through Santam, and we're registered with SARS as a VAT vendor — so yes, you get a proper invoice.

Over the past eight years our customers have rated us 4.6 out of 5 across more than 200 published reviews. That's not a perfect score and we wouldn't trust an installer who claimed one. It is, though, the best rating of any independent DSTV team we know of in Gauteng, and we're quietly proud of it.
